The 5th is the foundation of rock (power chords), the basis of the circle of fifths and the tonal system. The "Star Wars" theme begins with an ascending 5th. In guitar tuning, the 5th is the distance from the first to the fifth scale note. In folk and country, open 5ths create a characteristic "rustic" sound.
